Jon Hamm takes on a 'High Wire Act' for Tony Gilroy

Jon Hamm’s post-Mad Men career is still a mystery, but we do know that he has at least one movie role on the horizon. He will star in High Wire Act, a new film written by The Bourne Legacy’s Tony Gilroy.

The film is set in 1980s Beirut, with Hamm starring as a former American diplomat who has to save a colleague who might be responsible for the death of his family.

“I’m thrilled the way the project’s come together. Jon Hamm was made to play the part,” Brad Anderson, who will direct the film for Ted Field’s Radar Pictures, told Variety.

Gilroy and Field will produce with Mike Weber, reports TheWrap.

While Hamm shot to fame with Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men, playing Don Draper for seven season, he hasn’t really established himself as a bankable movie star. He had supporting parts in Ben Affleck’s The Town and Bridesmaids. He did star in Disney’s sports movie Million Dollar Arm, which grossed $38 million worldwide.

Hamm’s will be seen on TV again in Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer series and will appear on the big screen in Fox’s Keeping Up With The Joneses.

Anderson’s credits include The Machinist and Halle Berry’s The Call.

As for Gilroy, he has Oscar nominations for writing and directing Michael Clayton. He worked on all four Bourne films as well.

The last episode of Mad Men airs on May 17.
