Idina Menzel really doesn’t like being compared to 'Frozen's' Elsa, despite blonde hair

Idina Menzel did dye her hair blonde in March, but not just so she could be compared to Elsa, the character she voiced in Disney’s Frozen. In fact, she finds it insulting to be compared to Elsa.

While on Good Day LA Wednesday, the Tony winner said that it was really just an impulsive idea she had after she finished her recent stint on Broadway in If/Then.

“They say I did it because I was inspired by my Elsa character, which I found very insulting,” Menzel said, notes E! News. “That I would wake up one day and want to be blond, so I could look like an animated character...I just never, ever do anything with my hair and I finished my Broadway show. Eight shows a week, same thing.”

She also joked that she doesn’t really look like Elsa in real life. The show aired a clip from Frozen, which prompted Menzel to joke, “I look just like her! Oh Elsa, thank you so much. We're exactly the same aren't we? Those skinny balletic arms and that tiny waist.”

Menzel was also on The Late Late Show with James Corden this week and got to sing a song not called “Let It Go.” Corden and Menzel recreated scenes from Dirty Dancing while singing “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.”
