Hepburn put those magnificent vocals to the test in the classic role of Eliza Doolittle in 1964. Rex Harrison played opposite her as Henry Higgins who took a bet that he could make the mere flower girl become part of high society. “The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plain” is some of the memorable dialogue that will stick in your memory for always. This was an adaptation of a Broadway play. Harrison and Hepburn nailed it and this movie became a hit. Hepburn was simply darling and “loverly” in the role of Miss Doolittle.
