Elle Fanning's transgender drama acquired by Weinstein Co at Cannes

Elle Fanning's recent project Three Generations has been acquired by The Weinstein Company at the Cannes Film Festival. The project is being called a transgender drama.

The Wrap reported that the film is directed by Daby Dellal and focuses on Fanning playing a young woman who wants to transition into being a male.

Also starring in this film is Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon. Watts plays the mother of Fanning's character and Sarandon is her grandmother.

Go through a transition and becoming transgender has become mainstream within pop culture recently through the media and in television. Former Olympian Bruce Jenner publicly announced during a 20/20 interview that he would be transitioning from being a male to a female. The issue of becoming transgender is also being explored within the Amazon instant series Transparent.

Fanning is keeping a busy schedule, she has also been attached to the upcoming 20th Century Women which will also star Annette Bening and Greta Gerwig, Deadline reported.
