'Captain America: Civil War' cast continues to grow as Ant-Man, The Vision join

It’s starting to look like Captain America: Civil War will be only a Captain America movie in name only. Mostly everyone who makes up the new Avengers at the end of Age of Ultron will be in the new movie.

Since Civil War is expected to be an adaptation of the big crossover comics event of the same name, it makes perfect sense that nearly everyone makes an appearance in the film. During that series, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) actually supported regulations of superheroes, but Cap didn’t. It split the Marvel universe in two, with Spider-Man playing a huge role. That was why Marvel went out of its way to get the rights to use the character from Sony.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel has released a new synopsis for the film, which confirms that there is “another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team.” There is now a “new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”

As we already know, Chadwick Boseman will make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Black Panther. But what is news is the fact that Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man will make an appearance. That clears up any concern that Ant-Man might get lost in the shuffle.

If the rest of the new team from Ultron is set to star in Civil War, that means that The Vision (Paul Bettany), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and War Machine (Don Cheadle) are joining Cap (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Interestingly, William Hurt will be reprising his role as Gen. Thaddeus Ross from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Frank Grillo is also playing Crossbones again and Daniel Bruhl will star as Baron Zemo. Sebastian Stan is also coming back, too, along with Emily VanCamp. And Martin Freeman joined this week.

Phew...

We still don’t know who is playing Spider-Man or if Mark Ruffalo will pop in as The Hulk.

We’ll find out soon enough. And we will also learn how Joe and Anthony Russo fit all these characters into a 130-minute movie on May 6, 2016 when Civil War hits theaters.
