A former lawyer for Michael Douglas’ son, Cameron Douglas, is breaking her silence in an essay about falling in love with him and smuggling drugs into jail for him.
Jennifer Ridha got arrested for smuggling Xanex pills into jail for him in 2010. Unbeknownst to her – he distributed them to some fellow inmates, which happened to include an undercover informant.
In 2011, her charge was dropped on the condition that she help convince Douglas to testify against two drug dealers he bought crystal meth from 2006 until his arrest in 2009.
She wrote in an essay for The Hollywood Reporter that Douglas passing around the pills was a “heavy slap in the face.”
“I do not posit that ours is the greatest love story of all time. Or even, really, a love story at all. I labor under no misapprehension that had my crimes not been discovered, we would in any real sense have remained together. I am not the one who got away. I am only the one who got arrested,” she wrote.
In 2009, Douglas' then-girlfriend Kelly Scott got arrested for smuggling him an electric toothbrush that contained 19 bags of heroin in the handle.
Douglas is eligible to be released from the Federal Correctional Institute in Cumberland, Maryland in 2017.
