Two people are dead after Typhoon Noul struck the Northern Philippines.
BBC News reported that the victims were two men who got electrocuted Sunday while attempting to fix a tin roof in the town of Aparri.
Typhoon Noul, also known as Dodong, reached a Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson international scale with 183 mph winds and caused flash floods, landslides and thousands of people to evacuate their homes.
Noul was later downgraded to a Category 2 on Monday.
Authorities do not believe the death toll from this typhoon will be as high as it was when Typhoon Haiyan struck the island two years ago and killed more than 7,000 people.
"They've learned their lesson from past storms," said Norma Talosig, the regional civil defense director.
Reuters noted that although Noul left behind destruction, it did bring some much-needed rain to many rice and corn farms in the region.
Noul is expected to hit Japan and Taiwan by Tuesday. In preparation, around 1,000 tourists in Taiwan have been evacuated from the southeast coast.
