'War And Peace' with Paul Dano, Lily James to air on A&E, Lifetime and History

The upcoming War And Peace adaptation that the BBC and The Weinstein Company are working on will air in the U.S. on A&E, Lifetime and History.

The project has been in the works since February 2013 and the all-star cast was announced in December 2014. Paul Dano, Lily James, James Norton, Gillian Anderson, Stephen Rea, Ade Edmondson, Greta Scacchi, Jack Lowden, Tom Burke and Aisling Loftus will star in the six-part series.

Today, both the Hollywood Reporter and TheWrap reported that the A E Networks channels will be the U.S. home for the series. Earlier today, A E Networks announced that it would also air the Roots remake on all three networks.

War And Peace was written by Leo Tolstoy and is centered around the 19th century French invasion of Russia. Andrew Davies’ script will focus on the relationships between the characters. Tom Harper is directing.

The novel has been adapted several times before. In 1972, the BBC even produced a 20-part version. Other well-known versions include the seven-hour long Soviet Union film from 1967 and 1968 and the 1956 Hollywood movie with Audrey Hepburn.
