Steven Spielberg directed the remake of War of the Worlds in 2005 and this sci-fi action thriller featured Cruise in the lead role. Cruise played a family man trying to protect his family during an alien invasion. The highlight of the film was seeing Cruise play opposite Tim Robbins in a horrifying and captivating scene. This was another major blockbuster that Cruise helmed as the lead and it was extremely successful at the box office.
