7. Parental instincts
The unsub tries to take control of a father, Bill Kinderman, who is home alone with his young son. However, instead of killing the son, the father kills himself instead. JJ deduces that the power of the victim’s love for his son was stronger than the drugs and mind games the unsub was trying to play on him. They try to figure out how the unsub is finding all of the victims and since they were all adopted, the team soon looks into whether they shared the same group home at one point.
