9. “Sunshine of Your Love” - Cream
“Sunshine of Your Love” was the best known and most popular song by the power trio Cream. The band had been to see Jimi Hendrix perform which directly influenced the resulting psychedelic, hard rock style they had not previously approached. Written by Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Pete Brown, the song appeared on Cream’s second album, Disraeli Gears, in 1967. An edited version released as a single in ‘68 became their highest charting single in America, hitting No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
