1. Jane Alexander – actress and author
Director of the National Endowment for the Arts, Tony winner, Emmy winner – Jane Alexander is a busy woman. She appeared in films such as All the President’s Men, Miracle on 34th Street and The Ring. However, even someone this talented cannot fight against Lyme disease alone. After having the illness twice, Alexander now is trying to promote the documentary Under Our Skin, which discusses this disease. Although the movie is controversial, Alexander refused to back away from promoting it. According to Lyme Disease.org, she said, “This movie is controversial because there’s still been a lack of diagnosis of Lyme Disease, the tests are often faulty and the medical community still refuses to treat it in the aggressive manner it needs.”
