Tebow Time is being renewed at the NFL thanks to the Philadelphia Eagles. Tim Tebow is reportedly going to sign with Chip Kelly and the Eagles today.
The news was first reported by Fox Sports and later by NFL.com and ESPN.
Tebow, 27, will be the fourth quarterback on the Eagles roster heading into the 2015 preseason. The team already traded for Sam Bradford, re-signed Mark Sanchez and has Matt Barkley on the roster.
Despite winning a Heisman Trophy and leading Florida to two national championships, Tebow’s NFL days were a struggle. He did manage to lead the Denver Broncos to the postseason with an improbable win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, after two seasons in Denver, he was traded to the Jets in 2012, which was the last time he appeared in an NFL game. The New England Patriots released him before the start of the 2013 season. Since then, Tebow has worked as an analyst on ESPN and the SEC Network.
Kelly began expressing interest in Tebow last month, when he told NFL Media that he has “always been a fan of Tim.” It was also reported by the Boston Globe that Tebow has been training with quarterback coach Tom House, who has also worked with Tom Brady.
ESPN reports that Tebow will be paid the minimum salary and is already in Philadelphia. The Eagles start their offseason program today.
