Sylvester Stallone shares first picture of Michael B. Jordan in 'Rocky' spinoff 'Creed'

Sylvester Stallone just released the first official image of Creed, a spinoff from the Rocky franchise that stars Michael B. Jordan as Apollo Creed’s grandson Adonis.

The image, posted on Instagram confirms much of what we already know about the project. Stallone will play Rocky Balboa again, but this time, he’s the trainer and Jordan is the fighter. “Get ready to go for it!” Stallone wrote in the caption.

Creed will also star Phylicia Rashad as Apollo Creed’s widow and Selma’s Tessa Thompson. It is directed by Ryan Coogler, the filmmaker behind the acclaimed Fruitvale Station. This has been a surprising passion project for Coogler, who pitched the idea to MGM in July 2013.

Stallone has shared other updates about the project, even possibly spoiling a major plot point in a Tweet in December.

Creed is scheduled for July 31. It’s the first film in the Rocky franchise since 2006’s Rocky Balboa, which Stallone directed.

Get ready to go for it!
