Ryan Gosling's 'La La Land,' Kristen Stewart's 'American Ultra,' 'Power Rangers' get release dates

Lionsgate executives must have remembered that they have a lot of upcoming projects to schedule, so they decided to get it all over with at once. The mini-major announced release dates for two new movies and rescheduled four others.

Let’s start with the new ones. The more exciting of the two is La La Land, a new musical from Whiplash director Damien Chazelle, which is scheduled for July 15, 2016. It will reteam Crazy Stupid Love stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling for a love story set in Hollywood.

American Ultra will come out on Aug. 21, 2015. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Sharon Stone and Jesse Eisenberg and is being directed by Project X’s Nima Nourizadeh.

Among the films to get new dates is the Power Rangers reboot, which will now open on Jan. 13, 2017. The film was originally supposed to be a summer blockbuster next year, with a July 22, 2016 release date. Obviously, the production must be running slower than hoped.

Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt with Gerard Butler was delayed by two months and will now hit theaters on April 8, 2016.

The Zac Efron/Robert De Niro comedy Dirty Grandpa was supposed to be out this December, but has now been pushed to Feb. 26, 2016.

Lastly, Kevin Costner and Ryan Reynolds’ Criminal has been pushed from this August all the way to Jan. 22, 2016.
