Ryan Gosling joins Harrison Ford in Denis Villeneuve's 'Blade Runner' sequel

As if all the news about Star Wars wasn’t enough, Alcon Entertainment dropped some big news about another sci-fi series that involves Harrison Ford. Ryan Gosling will join Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner sequel.

It doesn’t sound like this is a done deal yet, though. Both TheWrap and Variety report that he is still in talks for a part. It isn’t known what role Gosling would play.

The Blade Runner sequel finally got off the ground officially in February, when Alcon announced that Villeneuve had somehow found time in his busy schedule to direct it and that Ford would definitely be in it. (The director has shown an incredible ability to make movies quickly. Since 2013’s acclaimed Prisoners, he’s made Enemy and Sicario, and is set to make Story Of Your Life with amy Adams.)

Blade Runner started with the cult 1982 film, which was based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?. The film was directed by Ridley Scott, who will produce the sequel and came up with the idea with original Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher. The script was written by Fancher and Michael Green.

Alcon has had the rights to develop new Blade Runner content since 2011.

Gosling has a busy line-up of projects coming up. His next film is Shane Black’s The Nice Guys and also finished Terrence Malcik’s Weightless. His next projects include The Big Short by Adam McKay, Haunted Mansion and, possibly, La La Land.
