Lifetime greenlights unauthorized behind-the-scenes 'Full House' movie

Lifetime is jumping on the Full House nostalgia train with an unauthorized made-for-TV movie about the making of the beloved ‘90s series.

News of the project was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, but has not been officially confirmed by the network. Currently titled The Unauthorized Full House Story, it will center on how the stars of the show balanced their lives with the growing success of the show.

Lifetime doesn’t have an air date set. The network has hired Ron McGee to write the script. Harvey Kahn and Stephen Bulka will executive produce and it will be a Front Street/Ringalong co-production.

The decision to make this is a bit surprising, considering that the previous unauthorized behind-the-scenes story about a ‘90s sitcom flopped. The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story only had 1.6 million viewers in total, with just 1.1 million in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics.

Perhaps the renewed interest in Full House will help this one, though. John Stamos has announced that Netflix is working on a sequel series called Fuller House with Candace Cameron Bure reprising her role as D.J. Tanner.
