LeBron James moves up to 20th on all-time scoring list

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James is now in the Top 20 list of all-time scorers in the NBA after he passed Patrick Ewing during last night’s win over the Miami Heat.

James reached 24,816 points during the first quarter, passing Ewing. He had 23 points on the night, so now he is up to 24,837 career points.

After the game, James, 30, told ESPN that it was an “honor” to be in the conversation with players he looked up to while growing up.

“To pass him tonight in scoring, obviously, I never thought I'd even be a scorer as I am or even be able to put my name with those guys growing up,” James said. “But I've been fortunate enough to be healthy, play with some great teammates that allow me to do what I need to do and I just try to give it back to the game as much as possible.”

James’ next target is Jerry West, who has 25,192 career points. He still has a long way to go to reach Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who holds the record for most career points with 38,387.

As for the game itself, it wasn’t much of a challenge for the Cavs, who were playing without Kevin Love. The final score was 114-88. The team has the No. 2 seed in the East with a 49-27 record.
