Kristen Stewart in talks to join Ang Lee’s ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk’

Twilight star Kristen Stewart is in talks to become a part of Ang Lee's upcoming film Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk.

The Wrap reported that Stewart would be joining a cast which already includes Steve Martin, Garrett Hedlund and newcomer Joe Alwyn.

Lee will be directing the film which will be based on the bestselling novel written by Ben Fountain with the same title. The story will tell that of a 19-year-old, Bill Lynn and his other servicemen who survive an intense combat in Iraq back in 2005. The men return home as heroes and are praised by the Bush presidential administration and the troop is celebrated at the Dallas Cowboys’ football stadium during the team's halftime show on Thanksgiving.

Stewart would be playing the role of Kathryn, Billy's older sister.

The novel was adapted by Simon Beaufoy for the big screen. Beaufoy is known for winning an Oscar for his work on Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire. Director Ang Lee released a statement about his connection with this project and why he chose to work on this project, ComingSoon.net reported.

"The most important thing to me is storytelling and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk is a story that immediately gripped me. I look forward to starting the creative process with this extraordinary team of collaborators," explained Lee.
