Kim and Khloe Kardashian met the Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, on Thursday on their first trip to the country. Their late father, Robert Kardashian, was of Armenian-American descent.
According to Armenia’s public radio, Abrahamyan told the sisters their visit will help bring international recognition to the country.
They apologized for not being able to speak the language and promised to try and learn it and also thanked the Prime Minister for his warm welcome.
Although their rep has denied the trip is meant to commemorate it, their trip does coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
Kim, Khloe, Kanye West and North West landed in Armenia to large crowds on Wednesday and the rest of their family, not including Kendall Jenner, will reportedly be joining them soon.
Kim has been documenting the trip on social media, writing, “Armenia we are here! We're so grateful to be here & start this journey of a lifetime! Thank u everyone who greeted us.”
