Kanye West, Bradley Cooper, Julianne Moore, Taylor Swift land on Time 100 Most Influential list

Time Magazine released its list of the 100 Most Influential People during the past year. Like every year, it includes plenty of celebrities and entertainment figures. Kanye West, Lee Daniels, Bradley Cooper, Julianne Moore, Taylor Swift and Laverne Cox all landed on the list.

West is a member of Time’s “Titan” group. “Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t,” Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk wrote about West. “Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity—he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut—got him to where he is today.”

Other members of the “Titan” group include Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, Apple’s Tim Cook, Chicago businesswoman Mellody Hobson, Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes, Charles and David Koch, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki and ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar. Daniels, whose Empire became a smash hit on Fox, is also among the “Titan” group.

Cox, who became the first ever Transgender actress to be nominated for an Emmy thanks to her performance in Orange is the New Black, is in the “Pioneers” section.

The “Artists” are where you will find most of the Hollywood stars on the list. Bradley Cooper, who earned a third consecutive Oscar nomination with American Sniper, has a tribute written by Oliver Platt. Boyhood star Ethan Hawke wrote about the film’s director, Richard Linklater. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand contributed a piece on The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies. Tilda Swinton wrote about her Trainwreck co-star Amy Schumer.

Transparent creator Jill Soloway, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt, singer Audra McDonald, country star Tim McGraw, comedian Kevin Hart, Still Alice Oscar winner Julianne Moore, director Christopher Nolan and Last Week Tonight host John Oliver also made the “Artist” group.

Taylor Swift made the “Icon” group, which puts her on the same level as U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Pope Francis and Malala Yousafzai.
