Julianne Moore was dropped from a Turkish promotional campaign for what officials have said is because of bad acting. When Moore refused to do a re-shoot, they pulled the plug on the campaign.
Turkey’s Hurriyet Daily News reported the $4 million ad called Home Of featured Moore revisiting memories of going to the country as a child and was filmed in Los Angeles.
Officials in the country labeled her as having a "depressive persona,” which they didn’t think represented the country well. A source for the tourism and culture ministry also said she had “poor acting” skills.
Ironically, Moore won this year’s Oscar for Still Alice. She will next be seen in Freeheld alongside Ellen Page.
However, source have also downplayed the cancellation of the campaign, saying “over 30 similar films” were made with other actors besides Moore.
