John Travolta is defending Scientology in the wake of Going Clear making its debut. He also admitted he hasn’t watched it and likely won’t.
Of course, the longtime Scientologist stood by the Church of Scientology in an interview about the documentary with Tampa Bay Times. Both he and fellow Scientologist, Tom Cruise, are mentioned throughout the film.
“I've been so happy with my experience in the last 40 years that I really don't have anything to say that would shed light on [a documentary] so decidedly negative," he said.

He then called the religion “beautiful” and “brilliant,” saying the people who made the film are “disgruntled.”
"I haven't experienced anything that the hearsay has [claimed], so why would I communicate something that wasn't true for me? It wouldn't make sense, nor would it for Tom, I imagine," he continued.
The church has responded to the documentary as well, which ex-member Leah Remini has commended, calling it “bigoted propaganda.”
Director Alex Gibney condemned Scientology staples like Travolta and Cruise for not speaking out when there’s been a “well-documented record of abuses,” but Travolta said it would be a “crime” if he spoke against the church that he claims has helped himself and others.
