Joel and Ethan Coen will have a star-studded jury to help them decide the winners of the top prizes at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The jury will include Sienna Miller, Guillermo del Toro and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The jury for the 68th Festival de Cannes was announced today. The Coen Brothers were named jury co-presidents in January and will only be joined by one other American - Gyllenhaal.
Rossy de Palma, who is best known for starring in many of Pedro Almodovar’s best films, will be joining the jury. She will be starring in Almadovar’s next film, Silencio.
France is represented by actress/director Sophie Marceau, who won a Cesar award when she was just 16 for La Boum 2. She also starred in Braveheart, The World Is Not Enough and Don’t Look Back.
Miller, who starred in both Foxcatcher and American Sniper last year, will represent the U.K.
Singer/songwriter Rokia Traore of Mali will also be on the jury. She is known for acclaimed albums like Mouneissa, Tchamantche and Beautiful Africa.
Del Toro, whose Crimson Peak will hit theaters in October, will also be on the jury. He is best known for Pan’s Labyrinth, which screened in competition at the 2006 Cannes festival.
Acclaimed Canadian director Xavier Dolan will be joining the jury. His films have earned wide praise following Cannes runs. His Mommy won the Jury Prize last year and it also won the Foreign Language prize at the Cesar Awards. His next film is The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.
Lastly, Gyllenhaal will be joining the jury. He’s coming off acclaimed performances in Prisoners and Nightcrawler. He will next be seen in Southpaw in July.
The 2015 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 13-24.
