After getting a lot of flack for what she bought for the challenge she accepted to raise awareness on what families living on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have to live on per week, Gwyneth Paltrow has admitted she failed it after the fourth day.

She accepted the challenge to raise awareness about how difficult it is for families to eat healthy, wholesome meals while living on $29 a week for food.

When she posted a photo of what she bought for that amount of money, she was widely criticized, however a spokesperson for the food bank in New York defended her.

In her GOOP newsletter, she has admitted to failing the challenge.

“As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice)," she wrote.

She gave herself a grade of a C+ for the challenge and went on to write how her perspective has changed because of it.

“My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days—a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year,” she wrote.

Paltrow then stated of “high-quality” food, “Let’s all do what we can to make this a basic human right and not a privilege.”
