We finally know who gets to sing “Be Our Guest” in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. Ewan McGregor will star as the singing candelabra Lumiere.
The casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. McGregor will be paired with Sir Ian McKellen, who is voicing Cogsworth, the clock that Lumiere constantly annoyed in the animated film.
Beauty and the Beast will star Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast and Luke Evans as Gaston. Josh Gad stars as Gaston’s sidekick Le Fou and Audra McDonald will voice Garderobe the wardrobe. It looks like Mrs. Potts and Chip are the last main roles that haven’t been cast yet.
Pre-production on the film already started, as Gad posted a picture of the cast together on Instgram. “Can’t wait for you to be our guest,” the Comedians star wrote.
McGregor isn’t completely new to musicals. He sang in Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! in 2001, after all. The actor’s other upcoming releases include Last Days in the Desert and Jane Got A Gun with his Star Wars co-star Natalie Portman.
Beauty and the Beast will be released on May 17, 2017. It is being directed by Dreamgirls’ Bill Condon is directing.
