Elisabeth Moss says she'd be interested in a 'Mad Men' spin-off

Matthew Weiner might not want to do it, but Elisabeth Moss said this week that she would definitely be interested in a Mad Men spinoff.

While on HuffPost Live Thursday, Moss was asked if she would be interested in doing a spin-off called Mad Women that would pair her character Peggy with Christina Hendricks’ Joan. Since she loves both characters - and working with Hendricks - Moss said she would be “totally” interested in that.

“I would totally do that because I love Joan so much, and I love Peggy and Joan's relationship,” Hendricks said. “I think [Hendricks] is one of the most incredibly brilliant actresses. She devastates me whenever I watch her.”

Moss later stressed that it’s not her decision and even said that she’s not sure what she will do on TV next.

“It's very much not up to me. But I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, so we never know," she said. "But I think I'll pause just a second and let people enjoy 'Mad Men' before I would do another TV thing."

The Hollywood Reporter revealed last month that AMC had actually approached Weiner and Lionsgate with ideas for spinoffs. One idea did feature Peggy, while another would be centered on a minor character living in Los Angeles. However, creator Weiner was never comfortable with the ideas.

AMC has been in the spinoff game lately, trying to figure out how to keep its popular franchises alive. Even the critically acclaimed Breaking Bad got Better Call Saul. However, considering that Weiner is in such control of Mad Men, it seems really unlikely that a spinoff would happen. But, if the paycheck is big enough, you never know.

The last seven episodes of Mad Men begin on Sunday.
