Chris Evans says 'Avengers: Infinity War' will take nine months to shoot

When you sign up to make Marvel movies, you are essentially agreeing to let them schedule your life. Considering Chris Evans has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since 2011, he’s already figured this out. But the studio will have his life even more rigidly planned out over the next two years.

In a new interview with Esquire, the actor, who has already starred as Captain America in four movies, revealed that he only has a few short days before his third solo movie starts filming. Filming on Captain America: Civil War will continue until August or September. That film opens on May 6, 2016.

After that, he will get some time off or a chance to direct another movie (he made Before We Go with Alice Eve after The Winter Soldier). In the third quarter of 2016, cameras will start rolling on Avengers: Infinity War, a project that will be split into two movies. It will take nine months to film.

“I don't know if I want to take time off or go pursue another directing job or find a movie to act in or, you know, do whatever I'm creatively inclined to pursue or wait, relax, enjoy my life,” Evans told Esquire. “And then we start the Infinity War, I think, some time in the third quarter. Fall or winter of 2016. That's going to be like nine months to shoot both movies back to back."

Nine months in production certainly sounds like a long time, but considering they will be shooting two movies at the same time, it doesn’t sound too farfetched. Marvel is also dealing with a large ensemble cast, so they might not all be needed at once.

Infinity War will be the first Avengers film not directed by Joss Whedon. Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed The Winter Soldier and are making Civil War, will direct the movies.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on Friday.
