Celtics start selling playoff tickets before clinching playoff spot

The Boston Celtics were never expected to even be in the playoff race, never mind close to clinching a spot. But now that there are in the last seed in the Eastern Conference, they have started selling postseason tickets. There’s one catch though: they haven’t clinch their spot yet.

As Pro Basketball Talk pointed out on Monday, the team said it will begin pre-sales for playoff tickets for fans who have signed up for their e-mail list. However, the C’s still haven’t punched their own ticket to the playoffs.

The Celtics are currently 35-42 with five games left in the season. Both the Heat and the Pacers are just a game behind them, so there is still a chance that the Celtics could miss out if they take a slip in the last games of the season.

They have a very tough schedule ahead. After Wednesday’s game against the Pistons, the Celtics play the Cavaliers on Friday, then again on Sunday. They also have the Raptors and Bucks next week.

Should the Celtics make the playoffs, they won’t be the only team with a losing record in there. The Nets (36-41) and Bucks (38-39) currently have losing records, but will probably make it.

The good news for Celtics fans: if they order playoff tickets now, they won’t be charged if the team doesn’t make it.
