A storm dumped some rain, snow and hail in certain parts of Northern California on Monday but did very little to curb the drought problem the state is facing.
The Associated Press noted that forecasters have said more rain is possible on Tuesday.
The storm is expected to spread moderate rain down through the central parts of the state then to the Los Angeles basin before moving out on Wednesday.
The state desperately needs as much rain as possible and residents are hoping for more precipitation in the immediate future.
"We have a rather large deficient to make up for,” said National Weather Service Forecaster Diana Henderson. “One or 2 inches around the Bay Area is just not going to do it."
As reported last week, California Gov. Jerry Brown imposed mandatory state-wide water restrictions due to the drought.
The devastating drought is one of the most serious the state has ever experienced and is now into its fourth year.
