During its Cinemacon presentation in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Paramount confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan favorites Bebop and Rocksteady will appear in the upcoming sequel.
Comicbook.com reports that the studio showed concept art of how the characters will look in the new film. The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed that Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore said the characters will be in the new film.
Bebop and Rocksteady were introduced into the TMNT franchise in the beloved 1987-1996 cartoon series and were created to give Playmates more odd characters to include in the toy line. Bebop has a warthog head, while Rocksteady has a rhino head. Since the characters became popular, they have continued to be used in other TMNT media.
TMNT 2 will be directed by David Green and hits theaters on June 3, 2016. In addition to Megan Fox returning, Stephen Amell has been cast as Casey Jones.
Paramount’s Cinemacon presentation also included an appearance from Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation stars Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg. Arnold Schwarzenegger also showed up to plug Terminator Genisys. Both films open this summer.
