Adrianne Palicki, who was once supposed to frontline her own comic book series, is getting another opportunity to. She and fellow new Agents of SHIELD star Nick Blood are reportedly being going to star in Marvel’s new SHIELD spinoff.
Earlier this month, Entertainment Weekly reported that a SHIELD spinoff was in the works, but no synopsis was available. Now, Deadline is reporting that Lance Hunter (Blood) and Barbara “Bobbi” Morse/Mockingbird (Palicki) would star in the new series.
An episode of SHIELD will provide the new show with a launch pad. It could also have a Mr. & Mrs. Smith feel, since the couple were once married.
SHIELD executive producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski are writing the script, but ABC hasn’t given the official green light yet. If it does get picked up, Zbyszewski would be the showrunner.
The new show would be ABC’s third Marvel series, as it is also home to Agent Carter. The Disney-owned studio is also developing shows for Netflix, which started with Daredevil. In addition, it was reported that John Ridley is working on a mystery project that would also air on ABC.
The last time Palicki, who starred on Friday Night Lights, fronted a comic book project, it was the NBC Wonder Woman pilot, which ultimately did not go forward.
