Will Smith isn’t coming back for Independence Day 2, but his character’s wife will. Vivica A. Fox confirmed herself that she will be play Jasmine once again.
Fox tweeted the news early this morning, including pictures of her character in the film. Director Roland Emmerich also posted a confirmation, adding a picture of the two together.
Fox’s role in ID4 helped launch her career. She is also known for her role in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill saga.
ID4 2, which is also known as ID Forever Part I, will also star Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg and original cast member Jeff Goldblum. Fox is also hoping to turn Jessie Usher (Survivor’s Remorse) into a big star, as he’s been cast to play the son of Smith’s character and will lead the franchise.
ID Forever Part I will hit theaters on June 24, 2016, almost exactly two decades after the release of ID4.
