'Top Gear' host Jeremy Clarkson suspended, BBC pulls new episode

Top Gear co-host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended from the internationally popular BBC show following an argument with a producer. In addition, the network has decided not to air Sunday’s episode.

The BBC said that Clarkson was suspended after a “fracas” with a producer, but issued no further details. An investigation is underway, but no one else has been suspended.

Sunday’s episode was supposed to feature former soccer player Gary Lineker, who joked on Twitter that, “I don’t think I’m ever meant to appear on Top Gear!”

Clarkson has hosted the show since 2002 with Richard Hammond and James May and has faced several controversies along the way. In May 2014 a video that appeared to show Clarkson using the n-word surfaced. The BBC took the situation seriously and Clarkson issued an apology.

Clarkson also had to apologize for using a racist term during an episode filmed in Myanmar and Thailand. Racist remarks also forced him to apologize for comments that aired in India and Mexico episodes.

While Clarkson has not immediately tweeted about his suspension, a few weeks ago, he did suggest that Top Gear would need a new host soon.
