Tim & Eric are comedians whose style they created is always better in another performer or filmmaker's hands. See The Eric Andre Show for proof. As such, even though they made a very funny show in Check It Out with Steve Brule, their other efforts are not nearly as successful. A crucial example of this is the terribly unfunny film Tim & Eric's Billion Dollar Movie.
Ferrell, like Zach Galifiankis, Will Forte and Reilly, is roped into this and is given little to nothing to do, trying the best to make his Top Gun material shine. He can't do it, however, and having to work against Tim and Eric doesn't help.
