1. Hershel
In season two, Rick Grimes and his group arrived on a farm that was owned by Hershel Greene. Hershel was the wisdom, heart and sense of truth for the characters during his time on the show and became an instant fan favorite. In the season two finale, it seemed as though the walkers that had overtaken the barn might kill Hershel but no, he survived. It wasn’t until season four when Hershel was taken captive by the Governor that he met his end, in a gruesome way. Hershel’s death left a hole in the show like no character before him. It can still be felt in season five. Looking back Hershel really put everyone’s lives into perspective when he risked his own life to save others.
“You walk outside, you risk your life. You take a drink of water, you risk your life. Nowadays you breath and you risk your life. You don’t have a choice. The only thing you can choose is what you’re risking it for,” said Hershel.
