A college student at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania has been kicked off the team after tweeting an insult directed a little league baseball star Mo’ne Davis. However, Davis has accepted his apology and is calling for him to be reinstated.
Joey Casselberry called Davis a “slut” in a tweet after news broke last week that the Disney Channel is working on a TV biopic of the 13-year-old Davis.
Casselberry later deleted his Twitter account, but screenshots of the message went viral. Then, Bloomsburg sent out its own message, saying that they were “deeply saddened” by Casselberry’s tweet, reports Philly.com. “His words do not represent Bloomsburg University,” the university stated.
Before he deleted his Twitter account, Casselberry did offer an apology. “Forgive me and truly understand that I am in no way shape or form a sexist and I am a huge fan of Mo'ne. She was quite an inspiration,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, a Bloomsburg rep told TMZ that the president of the university got an email from Davis and her coach after Casselberry was kicked off the team. She asked that he be reinstated and accepted his apology.
