Horror fans rejoice! We may have a while left to go until the release of Trick 'r Treat 2, but we'll be getting some more of Sam and the gang very soon.
According to Slashfilm, Legendary Comics will be releasing a Trick 'r Treat graphic novel this October. The book will present us with four new stories set in the movie universe which will pave the way for the upcoming film sequel.
The book will be written by Marc Andreyko, who has worked on a number of other comics such as DC's Manhunter. Michael Dougherty, director of Trick 'r Treat, has a "story by" credit on the book along with Zach Shields and Todd Casey. Art for the comic will be done by Fiona Staples, Zid, Stuart Sayger, and Stephen Byrne.
It's hard to believe Trick 'r Treat was released six years ago now, though it premiered at festivals two years prior. Dougherty's brilliant horror anthology didn't quite get the reception it deserved, not even receiving a theatrical release. However, it's become something of a cult hit in years since, with more and more fans discovering it each Halloween. Despite not doing too well upon release, it has apparently made enough of a profit in VOD sales to justify more of the franchise.

Back in 2013, Trick 'r Treat 2 was officially announced, as we previously reported. We don't yet have a release date for that, but Dougherty is currently working on a Christmas themed horror movie Krampus, scheduled to be released this December, so the earliest we could expect Trick 'r Treat 2 would be October 2016.
Speaking of Krampus, Legendary Comics will also be releasing a graphic novel tied with that upcoming film. This comic will come out in November, before the premiere of the movie, and be written by Brandon Seifert. The art will be done by Michael Montenat, Maan House, Christian DiBari, and Stuart Sayger. Like the movie, the comic will be a horror comedy about a Christmas demon, Krampus, and his holiday-themed henchmen. As the plot synopsis says, "If you want to survive the holidays, stay off the naughty list."
Krampus will star Adam Scott, Toni Collette, Allison Tolman, David Koechner and Emjay Anthony. It will be released on December 4, 2015.
