Kraft Foods Group Inc. has recalled thousands of boxes of macaroni and cheese dinners after reports of small metal pieces were found inside some of the packages.
Bloomberg News reported that Kraft said eight customers have contacted the company about finding metal pieces and that the recall applies to 7.25-ounce packs of “original” flavor of the product. The “best when used by” date on the packages possibly affected is Sept. 18, 2015 through Oct. 11, 2015.
“We believe a piece of stainless steel got wedged in a metal piece of equipment, which may have generated friction that resulted in small pieces of metal potentially falling into the product,” Kraft spokeswoman Joyce Hodel said in a statement.
Reuters noted that around 242,000 cases are part of the recall.
The company apologized to its customers and asked that those who purchased the product return it to the store for an exchange or full refund.
