George Clooney to produce fashion designer Tom Ford's next movie

Tom Ford is finally getting his film career moving again and has the perfect person to back him up. George Clooney has reportedly agreed to produce his second film.

Ford announced in February that he is in the very early stages of developing his second film and first since 2009’s A Single Man. He didn’t say anything about it other than confirming that it would be an adaptation of a novel that isn’t too well-known.

However, along with Clooney climbing aboard, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the project is a modern noir thriller titled Nocturnal Animals.

It is based on Austin Wright’s 1993 novel Tony and Susan, which centers on a woman who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband. Wright then tells the story of the book, while Susan recalls her relationship with her ex-husband.

Clooney will produce the project with is regular Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov. It’s not clear if the Oscar winner plans to be in front of the camera or what studio will release it. Smokehouse does have a deal with Sony.

Ford is best known for his work in the fashion world, but made a splash in Hollywood in 2009 with his acclaimed A Single Man. Colin Firth earned an Oscar nomination for his performance in the film.

If Clooney does decide to only produce Nocturnal Animals, that certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing for Ford. Clooney’s other recent producing credits include Argo and August: Osage County.
