9. And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street
The first book Dr. Seuss ever published was And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street. It is the story of a boy recounting all the amazing sights saw on his way home from school, most of which seem rather fantastical. The setting is reminiscent of Springfield, Massachusetts, his childhood home town. Another interesting fact is that it was rejected 27 times before he finally got it published!
