Dairy Queen is celebrating quite a milestone on Monday and giving away free ice cream cones to all customers in honor of being in business for 75 years.
The ice cream chain announced that March 16 is Free Cone Day. Customers will receive a free small vanilla cone at all participating locations on Dairy Queen’s 75th anniversary as a thank you. Most locations will also be accepting donations for the Children’s Miracle Network.
The very first Dairy Queen opened in Illinois and today there are more than 6,000 locations operating around the world.
USA Today noted that upcoming free treats at other sweet shops are coming up within the next few weeks. Every year, to mark the first day of spring, Rita’s Water Ice offers customers one free small water ice all day long. And, in April, Ben and Jerry’s will join in on the ice cream giveaway and give consumers free cones as well.
For 7-Eleven Slurpees, you’ll have to wait a bit longer though as that giveaway doesn’t happen until on July 11.
