Bradley Cooper in talks to direct 'A Star Is Born' remake Clint Eastwood was supposed to do (Report)

Bradley Cooper is reportedly ready to take on his first effort as a director and it’s a big one. The four-time Oscar nominee is reportedly in talks with Warner Bros. to helm a third remake of A Star Is Born.

This is the same long-gestating project that Clint Eastwood was supposed to direct. The project seemed about dead, especially after Beyonce Knowles left in October 2012, but Deadline is reporting that Cooper is now interested in directing. TheWrap also reported the news.

Cooper and Warner Bros. are going to try to get Beyonce back on board as the young woman who becomes a star in Hollywood. Cooper, who was linked to the film as a star in August 2012, will still play the role of the washed-up, drunk actor the young girl falls in love with.

Cooper, who worked with Eastwood on American sniper, will produce A Star Is Born as well, under his 22 Green banner. Jon Peters, Billy Gerber and Basil Iwanyk are also producing.

A Star Is Born was first filmed in 1937, with William A. Wellman directing and Janet Gaynor and Fredric March as the stars. In 1954, Judy Garland and James Mason starred in George Cukor’s version. The story was told once again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as the stars.

The new version was written by Will Fetters, although Cooper will do some work on that end as well.

Cooper was nominated for acting Oscars three years in a row. He also earned a Best Picture nomination for Sniper as a producer.
