In 2010, before Jennifer Lawrence stole everyone’s heart in Silver Linings Playbook and became a franchise star in The Hunger Games, she gave a strong performance in the indie Winter’s Bone. The movie, directed by Debra Granik, shocked everyone by also getting Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay nominations. While Lawrence didn’t win and the film doesn’t get much discussion, but it’s worth checking out. It’s proof that she can do a super serious film if she wants to.
