10. Walter Huston, Dodsworth
Walter Huston was the patriarch of one of Hollywood’s great families. He was the father of writer/director John Huston and the grandfather of Anjelica Huston. His great-grandson is American Hustle actor Jack Huston.
Huston famously won Best Supporting Actor for his role in his son’s The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. However, he was nominated for Best Actor in a leading role twice. His first nomination came for William Wyler’s classic Dodsworth, which is really worth seeing. The 1936 film is centered on the devastating break-up of a marriage.
