Peyton Manning training to play for Broncos in 2015 (Reports)

After the Denver Broncos lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the postseason, there were questions about Peyton Manning. Would the quarterback return for an 18th season in the NFL? At the moment, it looks like he is.

Sources close to Manning told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he has returned to New Orleans to train. He is hoping to speak with Broncos GM and executive vice president John Elway before he makes the ultimate decision to return.

A Broncos source also confirmed to NFL Media that Manning is working out in New Orleans.

The Times-Picayune reports that Manning has been working with fitness trainer Mackie Shilstone and will start training with him this week. Manning also had his surgically repaired neck and thigh injury reexamined, as both injuries hurt his performance during the 2014 NFL season.

Manning will turn 39 next month and is already the oldest quarterback in the NFL. He has until March 9 to let the Broncos know what he intends to do.

He only needs 2,148 passing yards to break Brett Favre’s record career mark. He threw for 4,727 yards in 2014.

Manning did lead the Broncos to another AFC West championship, but the team lost 24-13 to the Colts. He struggled during the second half of the season and it was later revealed that he suffered a thigh injury during a December game against the San Diego Chargers.

Should Manning return, he will have a new head coach. John Fox left the franchise. Last month, Gary Kubiak was hired to replace him.
