Montana lawmaker really tried to ban yoga pants

Yoga pants are everywhere, but one Montana lawmaker tried to wipe them out in his state. Thankfully for yoga pants fans there, the bill failed.

Rep. David Moore introduced House Bill 365 on Tuesday, pushing for the ban of any provocative clothing. That includes any clothes that show off a person’s buttocks, genitals, pelvis or a female nipple. According to the Associated Press, the Missoula Republican also wanted anyone wearing tight-fitting clothing - specifically yoga pants - should be arrested.

Members of the House Judiciary Committee discussed the bill on Wednesday and ultimately decided to kill it now before it reaches the floor for debate.

Moore wrote the bill with a retired professor after a nude bike race last year really upset him and others.

If Moore’s bill did pass, bizarrely, it wouldn't be the first time yoga pants would be banned somewhere. According to Think Progress, public school systems in Illinois, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, California and elsewhere have also banned yoga pants, calling them “distracting” for boys.

Oh well, Montana. You just missed your chance to add another entry to the list of odd state laws.
