Happy Birthday George Harrison: Ranking His Solo Albums

George Harrison, 1979
highlights: “Blow Away,” “Faster,” “Dark Sweet Lady”

In the late ‘70s, George turned to soft rock, rejecting the loud, bombastic sounds that dominated his early ‘70s records. While his 1979 self-titled album is good overall, it’s not filled with incredibly memorable tunes. “Blow Away” was a catchy pop single, while “Faster” is a great epic dedicated to George’s passion for Formula 1 racing.

I do absolutely love the song “Dark Sweet Lady.” It’s one of the prettiest songs any of the Beatles recorded after the break-up.
