Most posthumous releases feel like cash-ins, loose recordings thrown together to feel like a cohesive album. But George really was working on new music at the time of his death and was in the middle of a creative rebirth. Brainwashed is a stunning masterpiece and George was in the middle of making it when he died. He was so close to finishing that Jeff Lynne and Dhani Harrison just had to put in overdubs to polish the recordings.
I just love listening to the title track, which proved that George still had his spiritual pulse on the world.
