Get ready for more zany adventures in Portland and more visits to the Women & Women First bookstore. That’s because IFC has picked up Portlandia for two more seasons.
The news was confirmed on the show’s Twitter page and is the second time in its run that IFC has greenlit two new seasons. As the Hollywood Reporter points out, the show received a two-season order in 2013.
Portlandia is currently in its fifth season. The new order means that a sixth season will be coming in 2016 and a seventh in 2017.
The sketch comedy series stars Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen, who created the show with director Jonathan Krisel. Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels produces the series under his Broadway Video.
"We are so excited to get to do more Portlandia with IFC," Armisen and Brownstein said in a statement. "Getting to work with Jon and our talented writers and crew, it really is our favorite thing in the world. Also, we get to spend more time in Portland!"
Brownstein and Armisen also get a long list of guest stars to frequently appear on the show. Kyle MacLachlan often plays Portland’s mayor and the most recent episode featured Jane Lynch.
Portlandia airs on Thursday nights on IFC. You can catch up on Netflix.
